Project Description

Summary

The CIRCLE project promotes the transition to a circular economy in the cross-border Greece-Albania region by addressing key waste management challenges. It establishes the Circular Economy and Innovation Centre in Western Macedonia, Greece, as a hub for research, innovation, and training, while implementing advanced waste processing systems in Fier and Pogradec, Albania. These systems transform agricultural and algae waste into valuable resources like fertilizers and livestock bedding. The project emphasizes public awareness, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge transfer through campaigns, workshops, and school programs. By integrating sustainable practices and fostering collaboration, CIRCLE aligns with EU environmental goals, reduces waste, and supports local economies, benefiting communities, businesses, and public authorities across the Programme area.
